Wisley Library

Our collections at Wisley provide something for everyone - world-leading scientific research, gardening advice and books for children

Our library at RHS Garden Wisley is located at RHS Hilltop – The Home of Gardening Science.

The purpose-built library houses books, journals, archives and artworks. From rare historic treasures to cutting-edge scientific research, children's books to the latest gardening magazines – we have something of interest for every gardener.

Lending collections

RHS members can borrow from our lending collection and we are open to all garden visitors for reference.

We provide comfortable facilities for browsing books, relaxing with the latest gardening magazines and for undertaking research. Library staff are available to help visitors use the collection and to find answers to their enquiries.

Reference collections

Our reference collection specialises in horticultural taxonomy and science. Here we keep unique collections, including an extensive range of world floras, nursery catalogues and horticultural journals, as well as the Wisley Garden archives. Everyone is welcome to use these reference collections, but please note that if you wish to consult items held in our Archive store or Foyle reading room you will need to make a Research appointment. Read more on using our collections for your own research.
